As we prepare for the new QPA regulations to take effect in the 2005-2006 school year, we must begin to fully understand "Results Based Staff Development." Over the past two decades, a great deal of research has been conducted regarding professional learning and organizational success. Two important conclusions of this research seem to be the need for increased teamwork and collaboration in school staff development and the need to integrate staff development into the "system" rather than approach it as an add-on activity. As professionals, we must endeavor to put into practice what the research seems to suggest. I've provided some links to reliable resources on this topic in the related sites area following this article.
