Kindergarten Peanut Butter & Jelly Smiles

Mrs. Vanderpool’s kindergarten class recently enjoyed a “special” treat with their milk at snack time. The students have been learning the book, Peanut Butter and Jelly. So, at snack time each student got to make their own peanut butter and jelly sandwich.
The words in the book are a variation of a popular play rhyme about making a peanut butter and jelly sandwich, from kneading the bread dough, to mashing the peanuts, to finally eating the finished product. Also, incorporated in this fun activity was a lesson on etiquette and table manners. We talked about the importance of chewing with our mouth closed and not talking with food in our mouth. We also discussed the importance of cleanliness and washing our hands before eating. Of course, our letter of the week to go with our story was the letter “Pp”.Kindergarten Peanut Butter & Jelly Smiles
