Meet Alan Pommier...
October 20, 2005
Howdy all,
My name is Alan Pommier. I am a proud graduate of Northeast High School, class of 1999. I went to Pittsburg State University and graduated in 2003 with my bachelor's in Secondary Mathematics Education. I continued on and received my master's degree in Mathematics in 2005. This is my first teaching job, and I couldn't be more proud to be at my alma mater.
I grew up and live in Franklin. I spend most of my free time hanging out with my friends, working on my car, and singing with my fraternity. One of my great accomplishments was the opportunity to perform as the opening act for Rockapella when they were in Pittsburg.
I am currently teaching Pre-Algebra, Applied Math, Advanced Algebra, and Pre-Calculus. I am also one of the two sponsors for Student Council. I have always thought mathematics is one of the few universal languages, along with art and music. Too many people think that math is strictly about the numbers. It is more about learning how to solve problems. Mathematics is a science of logical thought and reason, and I want to devote my life to imparting that logic to my students.
I am so thankful to be given the opportunity to teach alongside some of the men and women who inspired me to pursue this dream. I hope that I serve them well. Feel free to drop me a line at apommier@usd246.org or just leave some feedback.
