The Board approved the CONSENT AGENDA, which included:

Treasurer’s Report
Bills submitted for payment
NES Activity Fund Report
NHS Activity Fund Report
Republishing of the KPERS Special Retirement Contribution Fund

INFORMATION ITEMS:

Alan Roberts and Joe Broyles made reports to the Board regarding activities in their buildings. Mr. Roberts presented student handbook changes and a class schedule for the high school to the Board for their study. Mr. Rivers presented two versions of a 2006-2007 class schedule for the junior high school for the Board to study.

ACTION ITEMS included:

1. The Board approved entering a three year consulting contract with the Curriculum Leadership Institute.

2. The Board approved the deletion of the entire “4000 Classified Staff section” from Board Policy and approved the adoption of a “Classified Staff Handbook.” Changes to the handbook from the last draft shared with staff were the adoption of a cap of 40 days of vacation accrual and the elimination of the early retirement provision for any new classified staff hired after May 8, 2006.

The Board adjourned to EXECUTIVE SESSION to discuss the acquisition of property and non elected personnel.

3. The Board approved the purchase of the property commonly known as 120 West Washington Street for $30,000. The District takes possession of the property on June 1, 2006.

4. The Board accepted the retirements of Rhonda Riley (2^nd grade), Shayne Anderson (1^st grade) and Ed Babcock (custodian).

5. The Board accepted the resignations of Tom Grotheer (custodian/bus driver) and David Brunner (JH math).

6. The Board approved the transfer of Carolyn Wood to the NES head cook position and promoted Vicki Sheehy to the vacated NES cook position.

7. The Board approved the employment of Larry Hill (Junior High Principal); Kerry Newman (4^th /5^th grade teacher); Melissa Sisney (Title I Reading teacher); and Amy Wade (2^nd grade teacher).
