Dress Code Standards...
...Dress for Success!

As part of the district's goal of increasing the rigor of our curriculum and increasing expectations for student performance we have established expectations for student dress at school with the metaphor dress for success in mind. The keys to our dress code are modesty and avoidance of attire that draws attention to the body. We seek to create a climate for learning that eliminates unnecessary distractions. The best way for students to be sure of compliance with the dress code is to use business casual dress as their goal. Although we will still allow jeans, t-shirts and sneakers, they should be neat and in good taste (as interpreted by the building principals). We are placing special emphasis on elimination of torn pants and attire that show more than is necessary, specifically in the case of young ladies tops.
Building principals have been given considerable discretion in making judgments regarding appropriate dress. If a building principal deems attire inappropriate, the student will be expected to comply with reasonable requests to correct their dress. Constantly changing fashions make dress codes difficult to define perfectly, therefore we are asking for your cooperation in our efforts to keep students focused at school on learning and not marketing themselves to their peers.
Thanks for taking the time to read this notice and your cooperation in helping us make learning a priority for your child.
