Secretary of State Ron Thornburgh speaks to Northeast students.

Wednesday, October 11 was a RED letter day for students at Northeast Elementary.  In conjunction with Kids Voting Kansas grades K-8 enjoyed an afternoon of presentations on voting, political parties and the democratic process.  Junior and senior government students from Northeast High School teamed together with eighth graders to present to grades K-7 and then held an old fashioned rally following the presentations.

The rally featured local candidates and political party officials from the Democratic Party, Republican Party and the Reform Party.  Honored guests included the Kansas Secretary of State Ron Thornburgh and Crawford Country Clerk R. J. Wilson along with numerous candidates running for office in the November election.  Students were also entertained with several selections by the Northeast band.

At 3:00 all students were give a RED, WHITE, or BLUE balloon and all were released at the same time.  The balloons contained a message for anyone who found one to remember to vote.

Election Day is November 7.  Exercise your right to vote!
