In his book, Results Now, Mike Schmoker identifies significant amounts of quality writing in the school curriculum as a breakthrough strategy for improving the achievement of students in high poverty districts. Much of the research support for this strategy comes from the research of Douglas Reeves at the Center for Performance Assessment. In order to provide district staff with resources to increase the amount and quality of student writing, I am developing a set of resources accessible here for your personal study and application.
