INFORMATION ITEMS

1. Building Principals Nichola Traul (NES), Larry Hill (NJH), Alan Roberts and Ken Cleland (NHS) shared information about activities in their respective buildings with the Board. Junior High Principal Larry Hill highlighted plans for an updated schedule at the junior high in 2007-2008. A more complete draft of the plan will be presented to the Board in March for approval. Curriculum leader, Nichola Traul, shared the progress of the Northeast Curriculum Council (NCC) and the mathematics subject area committee (SAC) with the Board. Principals Roberts and Cleland highlighted many of the activities high school students were participating in along with issues they were working on with other CNC league administrators. Highlights of the most recent Site Council meeting were also discussed.

2. Superintendent Rivers shared a report regarding energy performance savings over a 10 month period during which many of the energy savings projects were being installed and tested. The savings were slightly more than $18,000. The annual energy performance guarantee from t.a.c. Americas Corporation of $38,755 per year began with the November, 2006, utilities when all energy savings projects were 100% complete.

Progress on the classroom addition project at Northeast Elementary was shared with the Board. Plans for the new addition are substantially complete and after another planning meeting on February 27th, the architect will prepare the bid specifications. A pre bid conference with prospective contractors is scheduled for March 20th and the bid opening for the project is scheduled for April 3rd. The Board is currently scheduled to take action on bids at its regular meeting on April 9th. The project completion is currently estimated to be mid-October, 2007.

Ice damage at the buildings was reviewed with the Board. Roof vents and guttering were damaged and ice dams and capillary action resulted in some interior water damage. Insurance claims have been filed and are pending.
