The Board approved the CONSENT AGENDA that included:

  • Minutes of the Regular Meeting of August 13, 2007
  • Minutes of the Special Meetings of August 20, 2007, & August 27, 2007
  • Treasurer's Report
  • Bills submitted for payment
  • NES & NHS Activity Fund Reports
  • Members of the District Site Council

INFORMATION ITEMS

1.       The Principals reported on activities taking place in their buildings.

2.       Mrs. Traul, the Curriculum Director, reviewed the Curriculum Leadership Institute (CLI) curriculum development model the District has implemented with the Board. 

3.       Superintendent Rivers shared reports on:

•         The District's ACT test scores and Kansas Assessment, Instructional Planning graphs;

•         A short "show & tell" highlighting the District's PowerSchool software; and

•         Briefed the Board on the hunter safety class that Mr. Wescott is teaching at the junior high.

 

DISCUSSION ITEMS

  1. Mr. Rivers briefed the Board on topics that he suggested the Board request attorney Mitchelson draft as future Board Policies.  The topics are employment background checks for classified staff hires, vocational enrollment of high school students in programs not provided by Northeast, Interrogation of Students, personal use of school equipment and taxation of meals provided by the District to staff.
     
  2. The Board engaged in a lengthy conversation regarding the organizational chart.
  3. The Board scheduled a Special Meeting on Monday, September 24, 2007, at 7:00 PM to continue work on their goal setting process.

The Board engaged in several EXECUTIVE SESSIONS to discuss non-elected personnel and to discuss items protected by the attorney client privilege.

ACTION ITEMS

1.         The Board took the following personnel actions:

•         Accepted the resignation of Becky Gariglietti as Chess Club sponsor

•         Hired Kristi Blair as Chess Club sponsor

•         Hired Russ Cramer as HS Asst. Boys’ Basketball coach

•         Hired Lacey Likely as JH Asst. Volleyball coach & JH Asst. Girls’ Track coach

•         Hired Shane Wade as JH Asst. Boys’ Track coach

•         Hired Becky Skidmore as HS Cheerleading co-sponsor

•         Hired Wes Streeter as HS Asst. Baseball coach and Senior Class Sponsor

•         Hired Renee Popejoy as HS KAYS Club sponsor.
