The site council reported on landscaping projects and lighting projects they had researched for possible funding in the future.

The board approved the consent agenda that included:

Minutes of the regular meeting of January 14, 2008
Minutes of the special meeting of February 4, 2008
Treasurer's report
Bills submitted for payment
Building Activity Fund reports

The principals shared reports on activities in their buildings.

Board member Jackie Sisk gave a report on a visit she had made with district staff and site council members to Baxter Springs high school. The group learned about the one to one laptop initiative.

Mr. Roberts briefed the board on a proposed credit recovery plan for the high school in 2008-2009.

Discussion took place regarding the 2008-2009 school calendar. No action was taken. Further discussion and possible action will take place in March.

Discussion of policies on drug and physical capacity testing and bulling took place. No action was taken. The policy recommendations will be revisited in March.

The board scheduled three special meetings on March 3^rd, 4^th and 5^th to engage the public in conversation about the district's schools. The details of the meetings will be announced to the public through a bulk mailing, the website and the Pittsburg Morning Sun.

The board entered executive session to discuss non-elected personnel.

The board approved Joe Williford's promotion to elementary head custodian and a wage increase to reflect this promotion.

The board approved employment of Michelle Pryor as Board Clerk and Business Manager.

The board approved the employment of Matt Hiatt as spring weight program sponsor.

The board approved the employment of Jason Clemensen as 2008-2009 Northeast High School Asst. Principal and Activities Director. Mr. Clemensen will also serve as head girls basketball coach.
