PTO FEAR FACTOR 2008

The PTO held their 2nd Annual Fear Factor Pep Assembly to get the students pumped about taking their State Assessment Tests.

They started with staff cheerleaders getting the students pumped up with some great cheers, and followed by a skit to the music “The Devil Went Down to Arma”.  The song was written and sung by music teacher, Lori Pommier.  Mrs. Herrell performed as the devil and the students seemed to  love the entertainment.

The events for Fear Factor included a scooter and hula hoop relay race, animal sounds blind folded find your teammate event, balloon popping, ice cream sandwich eating contest, cow eyeballs eating contest, and find the worms in chocolate pudding.  The blue team John Watson, Jasmine Tindle, Brett Lepo, Autumn Walker, Jason Burton, and Abby Pipkin won the event.  Coming in second was the yellow team of Trevor Schmidt, Mackenzie Yarnell, Alaina Bualle, Michael Watson, Falynn Dewitt, and Michael Balk.

This year we had a lot more competition from the students as they really got into the events and the staff team didn’t take an early lead as they did last year.  The balloon popping event was highly contested until it was discovered that the staff team were holding a couple of their balloons so that they wouldn’t be popped.  The children enjoyed the comedy of this.

The top money raiser for the pie-in-the-face contest was Mrs. Stephanie Underwood who pulled away from Ms. Taryn Feldhausen during the last two days of voting.  Mrs. Underwood’s pie was tossed in her face by one of her own students Seth Chandler, who was selected by a drawing from students'  bees.  The students receive bees from their teachers during the school year, as a way to promote positive actions.  The PTO is certain the students are now pumped up for taking their tests.

 Good Luck, Northeast Elementary!
