Fun was in the Air

Northeast Elementary PTO
School Carnival 2008

The Northeast PTO brought back the School Carnival with a bang. Parents and students were standing in line awaiting the opening of the doors.  Approximately over 100 people waiting when the doors were unlocked. The lines were long for the games but the students did not complain. The students were having too much fun playing the games at the carnival and having fun with their classmates and parents.

The cake walk was packed all night long, and a big thanks goes out to Mrs. Williford and Mrs. Hency and all the parent volunteers that were in the music room. It was a little warm in the music room but the high spirits lasted all night long. The students loved the race track, turkey bowling, duck pond, dart game, plinko, free throw contest, tricycle obstacle course, bingo, tattoo parlor, cake walk, and concession stand.
The winners of the raffle drawings were:  Webkinz baskets - Brandon Connelly, Cheryl Robinson, and Lea Schaub, Hand carved Bear - Linda Stover. The student winning from our pre-sold raffle drawing was Job Burns, winning a $20.00 gift card and Webkinz, and the winner who purchased the ticket was Dani Burns, who won a free night stay at Comfort Inn and dinner at Chili’s.

The K-2nd student who sold the most tickets was Josie Bryant, and the 3-5th student who sold the most tickets was Kimberly Fraker. The class who sold the most tickets overall was Mrs. Susan Herrell’s 4th grade class.

A special thank you to to the vendors that supported our carnival through various donations and prizes.  A big thank you to Ed Babcock who donated the hand-carved bear sitting on a rock.  The carving was done by my Babcock himself.

The PTO will be utilizing the money raised from this event for the students Field Day to help make it a special end of the year celebration.

The PTO would also like to thank all the teachers, staff, and parent volunteers who worked through the night to make the carnival a great success. The PTO would like to give a thank you, to the Northeast High School Honor Society students and Junior High students, who volunteered to work the carnival on a Friday Night. Also, a big thank you goes out to all the parent volunteers who helped make this night special for the students. Next year will be bigger and better, and we know the students are ready because they were talking about it the following week.
Our final event of the year will be Field Day, May 21, 2008.
