The Northeast High School Chess team recently placed third at the Oswego Regional Chess Tournament, scoring 16.5 wins. Several members also came home with individual medals.
The team score is determined by the top four students on each team. Each player plays six rounds, making a maximum win total of 24.
Out of the 68 students participating, the top 30 students earned Individual medals. Northeast students medaled the following students:
Sammy Brooks – 7th
Jennings Beacham – 9th
Jason Silvers – 12th
Matt DeWitt – 22nd
Aubrey Kelley- 27th
Other participating members attending include Dakota Kuhel, Chris Ward, Camera McCullough, and Brittny Neil.
The last tournament for the year will be the state tournament, held at Blue Valley Northwest. Eight students from Northeast have qualified for the state tournament. It has been a very successful year, and we look to continue that success.
