Northeast Volleyball Team Captures Second at Three Rivers League Tournament

Northeast High School’s membership in the Three Rivers League got off to a good start on Saturday. In its first competition since joining the league, Coach Jon Bingesser’s Northeast High School volleyball squad captured second place in the Three Rivers League volleyball tournament on Saturday August 28, 2010 in Pleasanton.
To begin the tournament Northeast won pool A by defeating the St. Paul Indians 25-18, 25-14 and the Altoona-Midway Jets 25-5, 25-10. Northeast then secured its spot in the championship pool by defeating the Pleasanton Blue Jays 25-14, 25-23 and Chetopa 25-12, 25-11. In the championship pool the Lady Vikings defeated the Oswego Indians 25-19, 25-18 before losing to eventual champion Uniontown 17-25, 9-25.
Congratulations to Coach Bingesser , Coach Yurchak and the girls on a second place finish and a 5-1 start to the season. The Lady Vikings will be back in action on Thursday September 2nd at Galena. The matches will begin at 5:00pm. Go Vikes!
